On 7th June, Florence Edwards will line up at Bishop’s Stortford College to take part in the Knight Frank Schools Triathlon (her very first) alongside her cousin Lucy, raising vital funds for Cancer Research UK in memory of the Luke Hart Foundation.
What makes Florence and Lucy’s participation all the more special is the deep personal meaning behind it. Florence is taking on the swim, cycle and run challenge in memory of two very precious people. They are her beloved Poppy Granny, and her Uncle Luke. Lucy, meanwhile, is competing in honour of her Grandad, Uncle Barry, who is currently recovering from cancer surgery. Together, these two cousins are channelling their love for their family into something truly inspiring.
In Florence’s own words: “My Uncle Luke will always be in my heart. I miss his big smiles, funny tickles and crazy dancing.”
The triathlon is a team event, taking on a swim, cycle and run in quick succession. Florence has promised to wear her Granny’s favourite colours on her badge on the day, a touching detail that perfectly captures the spirit of everything she and Lucy are doing.
We are so incredibly proud of both of them, and we know Luke would be beaming.
Please do give Florence and Lucy all the support and encouragement you can. Head to their JustGiving page to donate and help them smash their fundraising goal for Cancer Research UK.
